Absent Minded, 2013

Absent Minded a limited edition silkscreen print on paper with matte glaze, under-color blend, and collaged elements by British artist Joe Webb. ‘Absent Minded’ is available for individual purchase or as part of a set of four, which includes ‘Absent Minded’, ‘Antares & Love IV’, ‘Daydream’, and ‘Mono’. Printed at Coriander Studio and published by CCA Galleries.

In collaboration with CCA Galleries and Coriander Studio, Webb remained true to his collaged, hand-made process by incorporating cutting and pasting techniques, along with the use of gold and silver leaf, mirrored papers, diamond dust, and glazes. His aim was to “reinvent the original works as high-quality, multi-layered silkscreened collages, refining and embellishing the ideas behind the pieces during the process.” Each collage delves into themes of loss, romance, and nostalgia, often by removing the male protagonist from view. In ‘Absent Minded’, for example, the missing figure is represented by a simple cutout, inviting the viewer to fill in the void.
