Peter Blake's Alphabet Series celebrates the Latin alphabet through a contemporary collage style with a Victoriana twist.

Here, the letter V sits at the heart of the print in thick, black type. Around it Blake has collaged vintage scraps of image and type: the letter V appears over and again in different fonts, colours, shapes and sizes, while vans and violins, vultures and vowel charts are peppered across the page.

Blake is heralded as a pioneer of British pop art in the 1960s. Perhaps his best known work, the album cover for The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, has cemented Blake as one of the leading names in collage, and he continues to push the bar with innovative approaches to the art of cut-and-paste.
