Featuring ancient mythological beings, anatomical drawings, dream imagery and religious iconography, Dan Hillier is known for working with composite images and 19th-century engravings to create captivating, mystical works, blending Surrealism and Neo-Victoriana.

In Aperture, two feathered women with blank eyes perhaps gargoyles, angels, or harpies surge forward in attitudes of supplication or prayer. Their bodies form a heart-shape, referencing the burning, sacred heart of Christ in religious paintings. This striking print collages and conflates Christian iconography and symbols of antique European power; gothic towers, sailing ships, Escher-like staircases and masonic eyes, in an eerie allegory.

This is a hand-pulled, signed and numbered silkscreen print from a limited edition of 100.
