
Appropriated Alphabets Set, 2013
Appropriated Alphabets is a set of 12 pieces created using Peter Blake's extensive collection of found typography and printed ephemera, ranging from bus tickets and fonts, to illustrations and typefaces. Each piece offers an interesting finish, ranging from gold-leaf and embossing, to collage and metallic inks.
Over the course of his career, Blake has created multiple works based around the alphabet including his Dazzle Alphabet and his 1991 pop culture alphabet. This love of the alphabet is further exploration of the themes of nostalgia and childhood innocence that permeate much of his work.
From a limited edition of 100, every piece in the Appropriated Alphabets Series is signed by the artist.
