Ban E Land
RYCA is a leading contemporary artist known for entertaining artworks that play with motifs from popular culture, be that music, film or sweary sayings that have made it into the modern vernacular.
Ban-E-Land is RYCAâs play on Banksyâs infamous 2004 Di-Faced Tenner - a much-publicised stunt in which the mysterious street artist printed ÂŁ1 million worth of ten pound notes with Princess Dianaâs face in place of The Queenâs.
RYCAâs ten pound note includes multiple nods to rave culture. As well as replacing Queen Elizabethâs face with that of an acid smiley, there is a reference to ecstasy pills, and 1988 - the year dubbed âthe second summer of loveâ after acid house swept the nation and changed youth culture forever.
From a limited edition of 100, this giclĂ©e print is hand-finished and comes signed and numbered by the artist.Â
