Cassandra Yap is a London-based artist whose work centres on the juxtaposition between darkness and beauty. Often infused with a surreal edge, Yap’s provocative work is inspired by her obsession with the female form and vintage pin-up girls.
In this piece, Yap depicts the original Batgirl – Yvonne Craig – who appeared in the Batman TV series of the 1960s, and along with Batman and Robin, was part of the Terrific Trio.
Here, Yap’s superhero reminds us that one of the most useful ways to fight crime is to vote.
