Below The Brine I

Emma de Polnay’s Below The Brine series takes its name—and much of its inspiration—from the evocative Walt Whitman poem of the same title. In these works, she seeks to capture the jewel-like colours and delicate, feathered forms of underwater life that Whitman so vividly describes.

Rather than a literal interpretation, the series offers a visual response to the poem’s mysterious world beneath the waves—a place of beauty, movement, and hidden depths. Each print is hand-finished with shimmering iridescent inks in sea greens, blues, and golds, along with fine detailing in coloured pencil, bringing texture and luminosity to the surface.

Below The Brine I is a  limited edition of 50, each artwork is printed on 330gsm Somerset Velvet paper with a hand-torn edge, and comes signed and numbered by the artist.

Every piece is individually hand-finished with acrylic inks and mediums. Available in two sizes.
