Mark Denton is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer, whose creative talents have been applied across the creative spectrum - from advertising and editorial to branding and books.
Blew is part of a collection by Denton paying homage to Chinese Girl (The Green Lady), a 1954 painting by Vladimir Tretchikoff, mass-produced versions of which went on to become some of the biggest sellers of the twentieth century.
Denton created his versions of the classic using models and a photographer, before manipulating the photographs to look like paintings. Here, Denton depicts a geisha going cross-eyed as she blows a bubble-gum bubble, commenting on the powerful seductive force of the modern over the traditional.
