Gavin Turk is a renowned conceptual artist who rose to prominence in the late 80s as one of the Young British Artists. Turk’s art explores themes of authenticity, identity, and the ‘myth’ of the artist.

Turk has depicted trash bags in various forms over the years as a comment on our wasteful consumerist lifestyles. His interest hails from the fact that society is defined by what we throw away, and deconstructed by what we choose to display in our galleries and museums…so what happens if we decide that trash is art?
