Contemporary artist, Mark Powell creates intricate hand-drawn portraits on found antique documentation using just a standard Bic Biro. While there is rarely a connection between his subject and chosen canvas, Powell explains that: "They are chosen to complement each other, and I hope lead the viewer to wonder, and maybe create, a shared history for the two.'
In this piece, Powell brings his subject to life with the help of Bacon's large scale map of the City of London.
