Butlins

Ruth is a contemporary British painter based in Sussex, celebrated for her bold, joyful artworks that explore colour, nostalgia, and the rituals of leisure. Butlins is a joyful homage to the golden age of British seaside holidays. Inspired by the iconic architecture of Butlins Brighton, the painting captures a sun-drenched daydream of design, memory, and nostalgia. The glowing butter-yellow building takes centre stage, its curved lines and symmetrical windows set against a rich turquoise sky, evoking both glamour and warmth.

Surrounding the building are classic cars - most notably a Beetle, a personal nod to the artist's first car, and smaller touches like a gardener tending the lawn add personality to this lovingly curated scene.
