Flowers (Round), Green, 2024

These works celebrate the everlasting iconic power of the flower. Rendered here in inflatable form, Colbert creates a series of highly stylized flowers, exploring a universe of aesthetics within the subject, while simultaneously drawing on other art historical references such as Claes Oldenburg’s soft sculptures. Colbert's appropriation of Warhol's flowers speaks to his larger interest in merging canonical art with digital spheres – a fascination that persists throughout his practice.
