Flying Copper (2003)
Flying Copper is one of Banksyās earliest and most iconic artworks. The image was created for Turf War (2003), the street artistās first show, appearing as a series of cardboard cut-outs, hanging from the ceiling surrounding Banksyās punk portrait of Winston Churchill.
Unbelievably, this piece was once sold out of Banksyās agentās car boot, with a price tag of just Ā£40. Now, some editions of this artwork have sold at auction for over Ā£100,000.Ā
This rebellious piece is an early example of what has become one of Banksyās favourite topics ā his dislike of the police, with him once famously stating: āMy main problem with cops is that they do what theyāre told. They say, āSorry mate, Iām just doing my jobā all the fucking time.ā
This silkscreen print is from a limited edition of 600. It is unsigned but comes with a certificate of authenticity from Pest Control.
