Flowers, and in particular, orchids, are a regular feature of Marc Quinn's work. In series' like Meteor and At The Far Edges of The Universe, we've seen him manipulate the appearances of the blooms to toy with the limits of beauty, and to showcase them in more ferocious or other-worldly lights.
For this piece, Quinn has etched the delicate flowers into aluminium, freezing their splendour in time. Quinn has used embossed chine-colle print with silver foil. This special technique allows the printmaker to print on finer, more delicate surfaces, to really highlight intricate details.
