Found Art: Picture Show

Since his career began in the 1950s, Sir Peter Blake has been prolific, creating paintings, collage, typography and more inspired by his fascination with popular culture. Blake’s impact on the face of contemporary art is so significant, he is now known as the ‘Godfather of Pop Art.’

This piece hails from Blake's Found Art series, which is inspired by the idea that even everyday objects can be transformed into fine art. 

In the series, Blake uses digital technology to enlarge the objects that are the focus of the piece, encouraging us to consider them in a different light.

Here, Blake features the cover of the 1926 Picture Show Annual, featuring silent picture stars, Rudolph Valentino and Helena D'Algy.
