Found Art: Playmates
This piece is from Peter Blake's Found Art series and is inspired by one of the earliest tenets of Pop Art, the idea that even the most basic everyday object can be transformed into fine art. Rather than opting to depict major commercial brands like Warhol, Blake uses found objects that most would cast aside.
In this series, Blake has used digital technology to enlarge the objects that are the focus of the piece, encouraging us to consider them in a different light. Found Art: Playmates features the cover of an obscure children's magazines from the 1940s. The piece revisits themes of childhood, innocence and a love of the circus that we see across much of his extensive portfolio.
From a limited edition of 25, the print is signed by the artist.
