Dan Hillier, contemporary UK artist, is known for his hypnotic symmetry line drawings. Hillier takes his imagery from the old and the new, blending Victoriana with Surrealism creating mesmerising and intensely detailed artworks. Inspired by found etchings, wood cuts, engravings, symbolism and Victoriana to name a few Hillier layers up his ideas using digital collage techniques and hand drawn fine lines. He has created a body of work that is easily identifiable as his own.
Colibri is depicts a woman decorated with black and white feathers wings. This headdress is the dominant and alluring feature. In the centre is the face of an eyeless two headed woman. The staring mask is both haunting and vacant and is lightened by hummingbirds flying around. The monochrome imagery and patterns give a kaleidoscope effect that draws you in. This is a signed, limited edition of 100.
