Framed Deconstructing Seurat, Turquoise Green 2004, Set of 2 Prints
In his diptych, Deconstructing Seurat, Michael Craig-Martin offers his interpretation of French artist, Georges Seurat’s seminal painting, Bathers at Asnières, 1884.
Using his signature colourful palette and reductive style of graphic linear forms, Craig-Martin separates the historic painting’s structural elements from the figures that occupy it.
On one panel, he presents us with the bathers, lounging on the riverbed and splashing in water. On the other panel, we have the river, riverbank and distant landscape.
By separating these elements, Craig-Martin challenges conventional ways of seeing, and offers the observer a modern way of experiencing a classic image.
From a limited edition of 40, this diptych is signed and numbered by the artist.
Please note these pieces are framed in 25mm white box frames with UV glass.
