This pieceĀ is one of a trilogy of prints in Banksyās 2004Ā Placard RatĀ series. The series was inspired by āGet Out While You Canā, a book by George Marshall, which offered suggestions on how to find a way out of āsalary slaveryā and āthe rat raceā.
Back in the early 2000s, Banksy painted multiple iterations of Placard Rat across the streets of London, and in turn ā the rat became synonymous with the work of the mysterious street artist. The original placard rat, holding a sign reading, āLondon doesnāt workā, was painted on Chiswell Street in London.
