Framed Psalm Benedicam Domino, 2015

Damien Hirst is an iconic British art phenomenon known for boundary-pushing works that explore art, science, religion, beauty and death.  

 

This piece is from Hirst’s Psalm series, in which he created 150 paintings featuring butterfly wings arranged into intricate mandala patterns. Each artwork in the series is named after an Old Testament psalm.  

 

This series demonstrates Hirst’s interest in contemporary belief systems. Said to be inspired by the symmetry of Victorian tea trays, these mesmerising and precise geometric artworks boast a meditative quality that quietens the mind.  

 

This hand-finished silkscreen print is a rare Studio Proof edition, signed by the artist on the reverse.
