Framed Queen Of The Resistance
Sarah Arnett created Queen of the Resistance especially for Make It Reign ā a group show of royal-inspired works at Enter Galleryās 2023 London Pop-Up.
The piece is based on Arnettās childhood fascination with Boudicca, Queen of the Iceni tribe, who she describes as, āher first example of female resistance.ā
Speaking of the piece, Arnett reveals: āThis headdress represents Queen Boudicca ā a beautiful strong woman who fought for liberty and justice. She was tall, fierce, commanded loyalty and stood up for her daughters. Thereās never been a better time to be inspired by her story.ā
The feathers in the headdress are from the Jay Bird, and represent confidence, vibrancy and intellect. The headdress is embellished with pearls, which are steeped in royal tradition.
From a limited edition of 60, this piece is finished with gold leaf and diamond dust. ItĀ comes framed in a 25mm black box frameĀ with clear colour glass.
Please note the black background has a textured wash effect to mimic the texture of the original fabric the image was taken from. Each print is individually hand-finished and is therefore unique.Ā
