Framed Under The Volcano

Under the Volcano is one in a number of Marc Quinn’s artworks that explore life and death by capturing flowers at the peak of their beauty.

To create this artwork, Quinn produced an installation from a range of flower species from different continents that would never bloom at the same time. Next, he photographed his creation and digitally reworked the piece to accentuate the voluptuous nature of his chosen flowers.

Speaking of his orchids, which are repeatedly featured in his floral works, Quinn explains:

“Orchids are like perfectly evolved little sculptures in themselves, they’re full of colour, interesting shapes and beauty. Even though they are a plant’s reproductive organs, they pun on human ones too. They make you realise it is colour, life and sexuality that keeps the world turning.”

This giclée print is from a limited edition of 150, signed and numbered by the artist.
