Maria Rivans’ collages are a celebration of the complexity of people and the world that we live in. Via her eye for creating harmony from the chaos, Rivans makes sense of our world, and invites the observer to venture across the threshold into the fantastical parallel universes of her creation.

This piece depicts British actress, Jean Simmons. It is part of Rivans’ pin-up series, inspired by the empowered women who made an impact on her as a child.

Each of Rivans’ collages are born from her collection of vintage ephemera. From selecting her chosen components to determining their perfect placement, each artwork is a labour of love, showcasing her sublime eye for colour and composition.
