Kashi Sunrise Lotus

Flowers and orchids regularly crop up in Marc Quinn's work, allowing him to further explore themes of beauty and death. For Kashi Sunrise Lotus, Quinn brings together plants from different continents that would never typically bloom at the same time, capturing them together in their prime.

To create the artwork, Quinn photographs the blooms and digitally-reworks them prior to printing, deliberately accentuating the voluptuous nature of his carefully chosen subjects. Of orchids, which are the central focus of Kashi Sunrise Lotus, Quinn has commented: 'Orchids are like perfectly evolved little sculptures in themselves, they're full of colour, interesting shapes and beauty. Even though they are a plant's reproductive organs, they pun on human ones too. They make you realise it is colour, life and sexuality that keeps the world turning'.

From a limited edition of 150, the silkscreen print is signed and numbered by the artist.
