Mateo uses forgotten images and traditional patterns and symbols to create his ‘monologues of the soul’. In creating artworks from carpets traditionally woven by women and placed on the ground, Mateo honours ancient cultures, and celebrates the beauty and strength of women. 

Lavada has been created especially for Mateo’s showcase at Enter Gallery in April 2022.
