Le Judgement
Jamie Hewlett is the artist behind iconic 90s comic strip Tank Girl and enormously-successful band, Gorillaz, which he created in collaboration with Blur frontman, Damon Albarn.
This piece is from Hewlett’s first foray into fine art, a collection named The Suggestionists. For the 2015 exhibition, the Saatchi Gallery was divided into three areas, one of which was entitled Tarot and featured 22 larger-than-life renderings of Tarot cards, including Le Judgement. This section of the show was described as a ‘cartoonish yet beguiling riot of genitalia and mysticism, with Hewlett’s trademark touches in the faces of the Tarot characters’.
