This piece is from Mitchellās East Meets West series, in which he pays homage to Ukiyo-e, a genre of Japanese art, dating back to the 17th century, which explores themes of female beauty, erotica and folk tales.
Where the original pieces explored the increasingly hedonistic lifestyles of the merchant classes, Mitchellās series considers the influence of western trends on the east. In this piece, his geisha enjoy a friendly game of Twister.
