Love, 2012
Dan Baldwin is a British artist known for blending the abstract with the figurative to create works that intersect reality and fantasy.
This piece is inspired by Baldwin’s meeting with his partner, Annie. Although they’d seen each other around Brighton, they hadn’t spoken until she plucked up the courage to speak to him one summer’s day, approaching him holding an ice lolly and saying, ‘You look like you need this.’
Love is rich in symbolism that represents their story, from the melting ice lolly to the little boy and girl, to the skeletal hand reaching out to find love.
This 24-colour silkscreen print with embossing, gold leaf and diamond dust is from a limited edition of 75, signed and numbered by the artist.
