Milk Maids

Since his career began in the 1950s, Sir Peter Blake has been prolific, creating paintings, collage, typography and more inspired by his fascination with popular culture. Blake’s impact on the face of contemporary art is so significant, he is now known as the ‘Godfather of Pop Art.’ 

Milk Maids is a piece from Peter Blake's 2008 Replay series, in which he revisits his own work from the 1960s. The series depicts motifs and famous faces that dominated his work during that period.

This piece is similar in style to Blake's iconic self-portrait from 1961. He has also pasted in Marilyn Monroe, who became the goddess of the pop print after Warhol's infamous silkscreens were created in 1962.

From a limited edition of 175, this silkscreen print is signed by Peter Blake.
