The late Jamie Reid is an iconic British artist, known as the artistic mastermind behind the visual style of the Sex Pistols. Reid is most famous for subverting portraiture of political figureheads, most notably piercing the lip of Queen Elizabeth II with a safety pin.
This piece is inspired by Afro Celt Sound System – a European and African group who fuse electro with traditional West African and Gaelic music. Here, a performer is depicted in front of Jamie Reid’s OVA symbol, which represents anarchy, victory and the cycle of life and death.
This silkscreen print is from an Artist Proof edition, signed and numbered by the artist.
