Matt Henry is a Brighton-based photographer who explores the counterculture of America in the 1960s and 70s via beautifully-constructed ‘stills from movies that were never made.’

This piece is from Henry’s Twin Palms series, a satirical set of 30 photographs taken in Palm Springs, California. The series is inspired by the shifts in gender relations that happened in the late 1960s.

Every photograph Henry captures is designed to tell a story. In this collection, the story goes that the young women of the fictional town of Twin Palms have been gripped by a ‘mass hysteria’ that threatens the town’s suburban patriarchy.
