Norcamphor

The delightfully menacing chemical names for Hirst’s spot prints come from the chemical company Sigma-Aldrich’s catalogue ‘Biochemicals for Research and Diagnostic Reagents’, a book Hirst found in the early 90’s.

‘Norcamphor’ is far from the colourless solid that is its namesake, but a direct and unapologetic display for Hirst’s love of colour. Using his iconic grid layout, the satisfying simplicity of the piece is simultaneously relaxing and invigorating. T
