Takashi Murakami is an acclaimed artist heralded as 'Japan’s answer to Andy Warhol.'  Best known for his smiley flowers, his ‘superflat’ theory of art combines Japan’s love for cuteness with its traditional artistic styles and aesthetics.  

In his piece, Murakami uses another motif seen across his oeuvre, the panda. Each panda artwork is designed to evoke a sense of innocence and intrigue, reflecting how the world views Japanese culture.
