Plate of Biscuits
This piece is from Ghost Town - Haus of Lucy’s 2023 show at Enter Gallery. The show explores the death of the high street, and its knock-on effects on our sense of community and connection.
Lucy created this series of eight teacups and saucers from now discontinued Beryl Ware – a popular post-war line of crockery that’s synonymous with town meetings and church halls. Lucy explains:
“For me Beryl Ware screams community. These cups and saucers represent connection and communication, and the power of sharing a cup of tea and a biscuit with a friend."
This hand-finished original piece is created from a repurposed Beryl Ware china plate, plaster of Paris and acrylic paint. It comes signed by the artist.
