Portrait of the Self: Joe Strummer

This piece is the second in Jana Nicole’s acclaimed and ongoing ‘Portrait’ series. Here she depicts punk warlord and The Clash frontman, Joe Strummer.  

Created using unlimited access to Strummer’s private possessions, and in collaboration with Lucinda Strummer and family, this piece portrays a very personal insight into the mind and heart of this legendary musician.

Nicole reveals: “I’m so interested in people who’ve created something beautiful. You wonder how they get there and what are they thinking. That’s what I endeavour to capture in these portraits – the person behind the persona.”

From a limited edition of 75, the piece is signed and numbered by the artist.
