Jana Nicole is an award-winning contemporary artist known for beautifully-crafted collages depicting the mystical world of mushrooms, moss and mycelium.  

In this artwork, Jana Nicole depicts an above and below ground view of this fascinating ecosystem, showing us the species and networks that make our soil fertile. She explains: 

“The first five inches of top ground soil are so important and we’ve been slowly taking that away by over-farming land. Without the mycelium networks, you don’t have that healthy soil that helps things to grow.”
