Mateo Humano is a Montreal-based artist who uses forgotten images and traditional patterns and symbols to create his ‘monologues of the soul’.
In creating artworks from carpets traditionally woven by women and placed on the ground, Mateo honours ancient cultures, and celebrates the beauty and strength of women.
In Spanish, Primavera means ‘springtime’, so in depicting his subject clutching a few loose lilies and appearing lost in contemplation, Humano creates a thoughtful piece about the possibilities of the turn of the seasons.
