Psychotrope
Contemporary British artist, Paul Morrison is lauded for his botanical landscapes that play with scale and juxtaposition to invent surreal-yet-familiar worlds. Whether working with paint, sculpture or film, Morrison creates his scenes from found imagery sourced everywhere from textbooks, to Disney cartoons.
Psychotrope is inspired by the early monochromatic work of Bridget Riley, a legendary figure in the world of optical art. Morrison reveals: "I want to reference it [Riley's work] while making it operate quite differently. InĀ PsychotropeĀ it is deployed as the pulsating backdrop to a digitised early woodcut of a flower.'
This screenprint with embossing is from a limited edition of 100, signed and numbered by the artist.
Size (cm): 73.5 x 99
