In his collaboration with CCA Galleries and Coriander Studio, Webb adhered to his collaged, hand-made approach, incorporating cutting and pasting, along with gold and silver leaf, mirrored papers, diamond dust, and glazes. His goal was to āreinvent the original works as high-quality, multi-layered silkscreened collages; refining and embellishing the ideas behind the pieces during the process.ā
Each collage explores themes of loss, romance, and nostalgia through the removal of the male protagonist. In āMonoā, only the maleās beady eye is visible, peering uneasily at his female counterpart through his monocle. āAbsent Mindedā invites the viewer to fill in the void with a simple cutout treatment applied to the missing figure. The day and night sky silhouettes in āDaydreamā and āAntares & Love IVā evoke enigmatic and imagined realities revealed beneath the surface.
