In Spacehopper II Mitchell adorns traditional photographs with contradictory imagery, to play with our perceptions of the Geisha lifestyle and to highlight the differences and similarities between Japanese and European culture. In this piece, Mitchell replaces the Geishaās traditional clogs, which restrict the feet, with vintage roller skates, which grant freedom and movement.
This pigment print is finished with gold and metal leaf. It is from a limited edition of 50, signed and numbered by the artist.
