This piece is from Mitchell’s Fourth Wall series, in which he creates new narratives by juxtaposing vintage postcards with black and white film stills from classic B-movies of the fifties and sixties.
In Temple Gate Showdown, Mitchell expertly combines his movie still and vintage postcard to relocate a classic Western-style shoot-out to a dramatic new setting at the Temple Gate of Sofuku-ji in Nagasaki.
