Internationally acclaimed for his eccentricity and widely admired for his lovelorn lyricism, Dylan Thomasās groundbreaking 1954 play for voices, Under Milk Wood, has long echoed in the imagination of the founding father of British Pop Art, Peter Blake. This fascination, spanning almost thirty years, has transformed the play into a āgreen-leaved sermon on the innocence of men,ā filling the spaces of Blakeās studio. It has also inspired repeated listening to broadcast recordings and several pilgrimages to Thomasās creative refuge at Laugharne, Carmarthenshire.
In addition to the Under Milk Wood Portfolio, we are delighted to present 'The Afternoon Buzzes', 'The Sailor's Arms', and 'Mrs Organ Morgan's General Shop'. The Sailor's Arms is a signed original print by Peter Blake, created to accompany the De Luxe Edition of Dylan Thomasās Under Milk Wood (published by Enitharmon Editions), while The Afternoon Buzzes and Mrs Organ Morgan's General Shop were produced to accompany the Fine Binding Edition.
