Contemporary artist, Mark Powell is known for intricate hand-drawn portraits on found antique documentation using just a standard Bic Biro. 

Speaking of what draws him to his subjects, Powell reveals: “The quality I find most interesting and, what I hopefully trap on the paper, is one of a story that isn't being told aloud.”

This hand-finished original ballpoint pen drawing is on a vintage map of the countryside surrounding London.

Mark Powell has kindly donated his proceeds from the sale of this piece to our partner charity, Connecting the Roots.
