Featuring ancient mythological beings, anatomical drawings, dream imagery and religious iconography, Dan Hillier is known for working with composite images and 19th-century engravings to create captivating, mystical works, blending Surrealism and Neo-Victoriana.

In 2016/17 Dan Hillier exhibited Transmission as part of a new body of work in a solo exhibition at Saatchi Gallery, titled Ceremony. With an emphasis on the power of symbolism and sacred imagery, Hillier's Transmission explores themes of mystery, wonder and connection with a strong element of the surreal. His aesthetics, built digitally or using pen and ink illustration, layer into dark kaleidoscopes of shadowy figures and organic forms.
