Across his work, Jacky Tsai loves to play with perspective. By combining his own painting with layered-in found images, he creates psychedelic imagined landscapes rich in detail and narrative.
In Wedded Bliss, Tsai's use of pattern and colour is reminiscent of a TropicĆĀ”lia aesthetic. The piece features a traditionally-dressed woman staring inquisitively into a mirror, seemingly possessed by a more modern version of herself. Tsai melds modern items from western culture with traditional patterns and symbols from Chinese art, including the crane, which is said to represent peace and longevity.
