World Tour: London Regatta II, 2010

World Tour: London-Regatta II is a signed, limited edition 24 colour silkscreen print with glosses and glazes by British pop art legend Sir Peter Blake. Available individually or as part of the set of ten World Tour images.

Blake's London images reflect the British love affair with boats and sailing. This regatta print in particular is a reminder that the Thames was the life-force running through London, a thoroughfare used by a huge variety of different vessels for endless purposes. Blake stretches that idea to its limit by jamming a gargantuan steamliner into the river. However, his choice of vessels and characters though mismatched and unexpected, in fact represents most of the human uses of the river/sea: transport, leisure, sport, industry, tourism, war, policing etc. Countering this hive of energy and movement sits the grand dome of St. Paul's Cathedral.
