In for the Money, 2010

In for the Money, 2010

In for the Money is a signed, limited edition silkscreen print with glazes by British contemporary artist Barry Reigate, jointly published by CCA Galleries and Saatchi Gallery. It is available individually or as a pair with Untitled. Printed at Coriander Studios and published by CCA Galleries.

In for the Money was created for the Saatchi Gallery’s 2010 exhibition Newspeak: British Art Now. The image is built from a series of informal sketches and various sources, including footprints, scuffs, marks, and pot stains, combined in a collage-like composition. The childlike, cartoon character is derived from internet and magazine images, re-drawn to reflect Reigate’s style. The seemingly accidental black smudge hints at a darker reality—money—a taboo subject within the artist's practice. The title reflects the underlying sinister theme, exploring the tension between art and commerce. In for the Money is playful yet unsettling, suggesting a hidden agenda behind the creation of art.
